THIS trend!!!

I have to say that this trend in furniture is one of my favorites.  I have done a couple of pieces like this.  What isn't to love about it???  You have paint, you have stain, the perfect combination.  It shows the beauty of wood without overwhelming the room.  Recently I went on a "brown" rant on my Facebook page, lol.  Quick re-cap I live in a log home, with wooden floors....EVERYTHING is brown! So when I scored this dining room set last fall for $100 (table, leaves and eight chairs, what a deal!), I pretty quickly decided that I wanted to paint it at some point.
After a light sanding(ALWAYS, no matter what type of paint I use), I painted the body of the table and the chairs with my favorite, Behr paint with Plaster of Paris added, for my own chalk paint mixture.  On the top of the table, I used Minwax Gel Stain in Mahogany.  For the record, I love anything Mahogany, furniture, stain, whatever!  I just love the richness of the color.  On top of everything I use Minwax water based poly.  I really like using this product and I have never had anything yellow when using it.  I have a bit more to do to the set, but I couldn't wait to share it.  Oh, and next time.......I will wait until summer and use my fantastic Ryobi paint sprayer.....I am sure it would be a lot easier on my shoulder!

At this time of year, I tend to work on really large projects, because I have more time.  Right now I don't have any shows, or bazaars coming up, so I can work on something large.  I am currently working on transforming my dining room set from blah brown to a look that I just love.  I hope to be able to have a blog post up about that very soon.  In the meantime, if you are new to RESCUE REHAB you may enjoy a look at my Facebook photo albums.  I have a lot of items available from last year's picks and many furniture pieces awaiting a new look.   Enjoy!

If you haven't visited www.Hometalk.com I highly recommend it!  Anything home oriented can be found there.  There are links to original blog posts, lots of new ideas for your home and garden, and friendly people.  You can create your own boards and clip ideas to use later.  I have posted a few projects lately and was asked to curate a Pallet Board.  That meant more time browsing, so I didn't have to be asked twice!!  My goal was to try to find pallet projects that maybe you haven't seen before.  I also wanted to call attention to ideas that used the whole pallet, as I had in my pallet bar.  I love the graphic  that Hometalk created for me.  While you are there, take a look around and join, it's a great place!  Please click the link below to find my pallet board.

First post on Blogger!

I have been blogging on Wordpress for a while, about my painted furniture, picking adventures and about RESCUE REHAB's summer home at the Delta Junction, Highway's End Farmer's Market.  I am going to jump over here to Blogger, where a good many of the bloggers that I follow post.  I am having trouble exporting posts, so I will post some pictures of my projects from the last year and a half.  If you would like to take a look at the Wordpress blog, it is here https://mjmhps.wordpress.com/
